Clara Schumann gave also concerts in the surroanding cities of Düsseldorf. Cologne must have been the most important city, which also results in the year-long friendship with the local musical director Ferdinand Hiller.
Clara performed all in all 22 times in Cologne, among most of the times in concerts with orchestra, but she also gave several soirées or participated in special concerts, as for example to mark the anniversary of the composers Carl Maria von Weber, Beethoven or Mozart. Besides Schumann’s piano concerts, Clara performed the third and fourth piano concert by Beethoven, Mozart’s concerts in D minor KV 466 and C minor KV 491 as well as both concerts by Mendelssohn, concerts in G minor op. 25 and D minor op. 40 ander the conduction of Hiller. Musicians, with which she was friends with and performed were Julyus Stockhausen, Otto von Lönigslöw and Agnes Schönerstedt.

In January 1863 Woldemar Bargiel conducted his psalm XIII for choir and orchestra in a concert, in which also his half sister Clara participated. She also performed in a concert that was conducted by the 25 year old Max Bruch and presented his works. The last performance in Cologne took place on the 12th of May 1880 during the 57th “Niederrheinisches Musikfestival” (music festival) and contained Schumann’s piano concert.
