Leopoldine Blahetka was celebrated as a child prodigy at the piano, going on a number of concert tours throughout Europe. In 1825/26, she went to Germany and also impressed Robert Schumann who saw her at a concert. It was not only her execution but even more so her compositions which she produced at the age of eleven already and performed at her concerts that earned her recognition by him: “truly feminine, delicate, considerate and elaborate”. Yet for Clara Schumann, at the beginning of her career, she was a competitor.
