No young enthusiastic and eager to read person in the 19th century was passing Byron without reading. The young student Heine in 1819/20 was not unlike the young Schumann, who, 10 years later at the age of nineteen, spent in 1829 a "terrible night with dreams of death” with "Childe Harold in bed".  Schumann's "reading booklet" is full of Byron's works, including 1847 "Mazeppa", Byron's memoirs and diaries edited by Thomas Moore, 1848 "Manfred” and 1849 "Sardanapalus”.
