Italian Pianist Roberto Prosseda revives a lost art; recreating the haunting melodies of a Pedal Piano

Mozart owned an early version, Schumann and Gounod wrote for it. [...] In the works for pedal piano by Schumann, that spatial element is given an emotional dimension. 'Schumann was interested in the inner voice', says Mr. Prosseda. 'For himm, the pedal board introduces a voice of a big father, who embraces all the other sounds.'“

  • Schumann: Skizzen op. 58, Etüden op. 56
  • Boëly: Fantaisie et Fugue op. 18 Nr. 6
  • Gounod: Marche Funébre pour une marionette
  • Alkan: Benedictus op. 54; Etude pour les pieds seulement Nr. 1; Grands Préludes op. 66 Nr. 3 und 4
